background / biography
Jemex, a Jewish Mexican producer, songwriter and mixer hailing from NY began dipping his creative fingers into music production back in 2004. The grit, grime and small quarters of his East Village studio helped to shape Jemex's style, mixing his natural intuition for melodies and hip-hop beats with the evolution of the electro dance scene in the East Village and Lower East Side.
By 2006, Jemex paired up with the vocal talents of Dean Gray and soon released their first EP entitled From There To Here. Well received by internet music listeners, by 2008, they were thirsty for more of Jemex's unique sound. El Fin, the 1st single from the EP Square 1,was featured on the Forever 21 stores' in-store playlist for the month of January 2009. This milestone came less than a year after Jemex took home the coveted grand prize at New York's iStandard Producers Showcase where producers in the camps of such industry heavyweights as Timbaland and 50 Cent told Jemex his music is for the nightlife and to just get his music out there.
After receiving accolades by top players in the music production industry, the highly anticipated release of the Jemex/Dean Gray album, Square 1, on Eternal NYC Records dropped in June of this year. Acquiring nods around music blog world by the likes of music blog magnets like Culture of Me and re-mixers like Mr Vega, now, Jemex is back by popular demand with his second single off Square 1, entitled Dance Till' Day (Dream Mix) which boasts loads of dance fever with hip hop beats complimented by the smooth tones of Dean Gray's vocals.
Dream Mix is an instant dance hit, already accepted by the likes of one of the creators of NYC's premier music and nightlife websites HiFiCartel, and twitter followers everywhere it is sure to push Jemex into the forefront of the indie dance scene.
In addition to music production, Jemex also works on the rapidly growing music blog BoomBoomChik.com which actively collaborates with Passionate Marketing and HiFiCartel, two media and marketing companies devoted to promoting and highlighting the NYC music scene and artists like Sliimy and The Big Pink.
