My musical adventures started when I was 12 years old. As far as I can remember I have always been aware of melody and rhythm and could play by ear fairly easily on my first instrument: the wood flute! At school one of my best friends used to bring his little Casio keyboard and we often skipped class to jam on this tiny keyboard. From then I was hooked on music! So my parents got me into music lessons and bought me a little Yamaha PSR-32 electronic keyboard. At 16 I purchased my first grown man synthesizer, the Yamaha DX7 and I started considering music as a career. I like to say that it was actually music who picked me, because I could not see myself (and still don't) being anything else than a musician.
Over the years I have been fortunate to be exposed to many styles of music and having been raised on the french caribbean island of Guadeloupe my influences are extremely diverse. As far as genres, jazz is my foundation but the older I grow the more I am able to navigate away from it and incorporate more "commercial music" elements in my writing. I like to be inspired by artists as far away apart as Dr Dre, Keith Jarrett, Stargate, George Duke, Tears for Fears, Brian McKnight, Daft Punk or Weather Report!
My style is rather melody oriented and the remark people most often make in describing my music is that it is very ... musical! I guess the musician inside of me will never surrender. Having said that, I like to play chameleon and surprise my audience by often writing in totally different styles. Some of my other musical personalities can be heard here: sonic labs
I started with Steinberg Pro 24 and never left the brand. My main DAW is Nuendo that I feed with a Yamaha Motif XS, an AKAI S900, a bunch of high-end mics (Gefell, AEA, AKG ... ), mic preamps (Vintech, Phoenix Audio ...), dynamic processors (UREI, DBX ...) through an Apogee Rosetta800 converter. I combine those with a large number of amazing VST instruments, effects and sound libraries.
My wildest dream? I am in the studio, one of my beats blasting on the mains, Dr Dre starting to bob his head and shouting over the 105+dB music: "Yo Raaaage dat shit is tiiight!".
