background / biography
Marshall LAW, born Marshall Shouse, is a 29 year old producer born and raised in North Carolina. For the past 14 years music has been the focus of Marshall LAW. Originally an emcee, Marshall LAW was known as Struk, one of the five members of Set Camp, a local group based out of Raleigh/Durham. During the time of Set Camp Marshall LAW appeared in URB magazine and on various mixtapes including DJ NEXT’s mixtape, “A Vibe Called NEXT” which was up for best international mixtape of the year on www.ughh.com. After the split of Set Camp, Marshall LAW formed a duo known as Sarkazum. During this time Marshall LAW experimented more with mainstream lyrics which later landed him 3 spots on the movie "GROUPIES" soundtrack including the lead track. The movie also featured Ludacris, Goodie Mobb, Outkast, Scarface and many others. It was during this time that Marshall LAW began making beats on the side. After the split of Sarkazum, Marshall LAW and seven other emcees formed a group known as U.R.F. MOVAZ (United Raw Family). During this time Marshall LAW slowly started making the transition from emcee to producer. Finding himself making more beats than writing songs, Marshall LAW decided to move on from being an emcee and started working on production full time. In 2005 Marshall LAW had entered and won 6 beat battles including the 2005 Super Beat Championship and in 2006 NCCU's beat battle presented by 9th Wonder. In September of 2006, Marshall LAW entered Sam Ash’s Battle of the Beats 2k6 and was awarded with the best club banger. Since then, a track produced by Marshall LAW entitled, “Play tha Club” for an artist named Blaque Watch, has won the battle of the beats on Foxy 99.1FM based out of Whiteville, North Carolina and is currently in rotation. On October 18, 2006 Marshall LAW scored a 119 out of a possible 120 to win iStandard Producers October Showcase in New York City. In May of 2007, Marshall LAW signed a production deal with SCRAM JONES for BEAST MUSIC, INC. For current and up to date information, you can visit www.myspace.com/lawboutmusic.
