The next hottest producer to step up to plate, Shawn D. is creatively raising the bar for non mainstream and mainstream producer right now. Born Marshawn T. Crump in Chicago, Illinois, on October 11th, 1981, Shawn D. has been honing his craft since early 2001 after a friend bought Propellerhead’s Reason software. Raised in a single parent home on the Westside of Chicago, Shawn D. has always had a love for music, listening to the likes of James Brown, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles as a kid, and once in high school being inspired by hip hop artist such as Outkast, Timbaland, Biggie Smalls, Tupac, and more. After graduating high school Shawn D. went to East-West University where he graduated with an Associates Degree in Biology and got a job as a Polysomnography Tech at Loyola University Medical Center, but feeling like a piece of himself was missing began to really concentrate on creating music.
Over the past several years Shawn D. has learn how to manage studio time, by working with engineers at Chicago Recording Company. He has also taught himself the basic of the industry standard Pro-Tools and Reason software. In the next year Shawn D. plans on taking classes so that he can learn from professionals the art of mixing and mastering. Shawn D. has also been on the grind promoting music that he has done on Myspace.com/5588pimpproductions, where he has over 1,000 plays and on Showcaseyourmusic.com/5588productions where he has over 200 views in less than 2 months, and is currently in the process of trying to get a Bluri.com Producer Spotlight. Shawn D. has a very unique style, being able to take sounds and samples from anywhere ranging from movies to Japanese anime, and turning it into a great song.
Shawn D. plans are to become one of the premier producers in the industry, to start up his own production company 5588 Productions, to start his own publishing company Heavy Rotation Publishing, and to start his own foundation, Share the Experience Foundation, to help inner city children reach for higher goals and experience things outside of their community. Shawn D. wants to work with the best from all genre of music from Common to T.I. to Musiq to Pink to Linkin Park. Shawn D. is destined to be great through talent, will power, and pure hard work.
