Life’s circular path leads us in directions we do not anticipate to reveal our purpose. In William S Cloud’s (AKA Cloud 9) case, the purpose of creating music was always there. The method of the creating process has been the product of the evolution from shy instrumentalist /singer to trackmaker/songwriter. “I started with the saxophone at an early age-on and off of it into my early adult years.” he reveals. “The piano came next, with me dabbling in jazz vocal and bass guitar for a spell until I found my muse in creating my own tracks using a keyboard workstation-that I still use to this day.” The thirty-something ‘s background in the arts as well as electronics has served him well in his latest artistic form. “ I love creating textures from scratch, as well as sampling classics to really get a feel of what the musicians, singers, writer felt. Philly’s rich history in music is one the main reasons I moved up here from Charlotte. And opportunities to display my craft like the Istandard Producer Showcase are plentiful up here” he adds, noting that he has placed 3rd and 2nd in the April and November Showcases, respectively.
