Top Notch Productionz
background / biography
Inspired by his upbringing in a Baptist church, Marcus “Da Fingaz” Manderson has been an avid contributor to the building of music. With more than 15 years of musical training and dedication to his art of playing and making music, Marcus eagerly awaits his BIG opportunity to burst in on the music industry and take them by storm.
Marcus’ recording career has been mainly focused in the Washington Metropolitan area. He attended James Madison University from 2002-2005 graduating Cum Laude (a semester early) with a Bachelor of Music in Music Industry. Under the tutelage of Emmy-award winning composers such as David Cottrell, he studied important music industry components such as:
Legal Aspects of Music Industry
Introduction to Audio Devices
Music & Sound Product Merchandising
Multitrack Recording Technology
Songwriting
Artist Management
DigiDesign ProTools
While working toward his degree he was able to intern at RecShop, a recording studio just outside of Harrisonburg, VA. The many artists he was fortunate to record fueled his passion for music and it was during this time he decided to further his education.
In 2007, Marcus enrolled in the Omega Studios’ School of Applied Recording Arts and Sciences where they have recorded such artists as Prince, Barry Manilow, Shirley Caesar, Barbara Streisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Jimi Hendrix just to name a few. He successfully pursued a technical degree in Audio Production Techniques as well as becoming a certified ProTools Operator. His final project consisted of properly micing the studio for a 10 piece go-go band and recording them using the SSL 4048E/G console without help (he got a perfect score).
Upon completion of this program, Marcus secured an Audio/Visual Technician position with National Geographic Society in Washington, DC. He continues to produce music for upcoming artists and utilizes his education and training by running recording sessions for studios within the DC area.
