Straight-N-Narrow Productions (Premise)
background / biography
Straight-N-Narrow Productions, established 2001. A college freshman from Northeast Philly lands in Pittsburgh, and the beats took precedence, not Communication courses. Days, nights, hours with no food, crafting sound and deciphering the code of what makes a hit; what makes an instrumental dope and ready for the industry.
Prem's a 90's kid. The first CD he bought was “It Was Written”. The hip-hop school that raised him up was The Roots, Talib Kweli, Eminem, Rakim, Wu, Redman, Dilated Peoples, and the greats that need not be named, RIP. Classic Rock/Reggae played a large role is his musical development as well.
They were humble beginnings; A young boy livin' in a small apartment with his Father, ironically a life-long drummer and career musician. Prem had his own casio keys (mini-version) at 3 years old. Vinyl was a regular site, crates upon crates until Pop's had to sell em to pay rent.
The climb has progressed rapidly since 2005, when Prem linked with J-Hatch and Don Di Napoli of iStandard. They offered a shot. That's all a man needs when dedication and talent combine with a capable mind. Creating beautiful sound is a science, a way of life, and a passion. Straight-N-Narrow Productions has it's Premise, story on deck. True story.
