Bkorn Talks Producing Lil Kim’s “Took Us A Break”, How Rap Beef Affects Producers & More

Bkorn has co-produced some very big radio records for DJ Khaled, but you probably didn't know which ones because of the politics involved. With that being said, let us take the time out to introduce you properly to the man who just put the battery in the back of  the Queen Bee, Lil Kim with her newest offering "Took Us A Break". Pay attention, the break's over!

[J Hatch]
"You just produced the new Lil Kim joint 'Took Us A Break', tell the readers how the track came about and how you linked with the queen bee to make it happen."

[BKorn]
"The beat came from a melody that Austin Powerz sent to me a while back. I changed the pitch and tempo of what he sent me; added my drums, 808s and synths to make it a banger. A few months later, we had a session with Skeme, who laced a few hooks on some beats, one being the "Took Us A Break" beat. Kim liked the idea that he did on the hook and she took it to the next level and bodied the song."

[J Hatch]
"The track is dope but it's definitely a new swag for Kim when you heard the final product what was your overall opinion?"

[Bkorn]
"I think the track is crazy. Exactly what Kim needed to come with. People want to hear hard beats with hard bars, and that's exactly what she came with. She holds her ground on the new sound, 100%."

[J Hatch]
"In the song & video there are some obvious swipes at other female rappers on the scene right now, how do you feel about being a part of that controversy as a producer in today's musical climate? Does it affect your potential working relationship at all?"

[Bkorn]
"Rap beef will always be a part of hip-hop, it's part of the culture. But as a producer, I just stay in my zone, which is being creative. So, any of the controversies that goes on between rappers, I don't let it affect me personally"

[J Hatch]
"What else does Bkorn have on the horizon to closeout 2017?"

[Bkorn]
"Aside from "Took Us A Break", I produced another track on Lil Kim's upcoming album. It's a fire joint, something I think people will really enjoy and be surprised with. I also plan on releasing a new drum kit with along with an official contest."
