2018 ASCAP I CREATE MUSIC EXPO - [istandard] Producer & Rapper Showcase

For the tenth straight year, ASCAP and iStandard have partnered up to present a showcase specifically for all the ASCAP producers and rappers in the house. Eight EXPO attendees tracks will be selected by iStandard. They will have their beats critiqued in front of a live audience by a panel of prominent urban music tastemakers. Two rappers, also selected by iStandard, will get to perform as well. Get in the groove and find a new collaborator at this high-energy, beat-centric showcase! Follow the directions below on how to submit your music.

  2. Enter your registration number below.
  3. Fill out the form and upload your music or share a soundcloud or other streaming link with us and share a live performance link.
  4. Sit tight and wait for the announcement! You will be contacted if selected.

ASCAP x [istandard] Producer & Rapper Showcase Registration Form

Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Airbit, Soundclick, etc. (single song or beat only please)
1) PRIZE. The opportunity to play your (“Entrants”) tracks (“Tracks”) or perform (“Perform”) a Hip-Hop/Rap
song (“Songs”) before attendees of the ASCAP EXPO at the [istandard] (“Company”) Producer Showcase
(the “Showcase”) during the 2018 ASCAP EXPO in Los Angeles, CA. To accept the prize, winning Entrants
(“Winners”) must be prepared to play his, her or their Tracks or perform their song at the Showcase and will
be responsible for any equipment necessary for the performance of the Tracks.
2) HOW TO ENTER. Entrants must submit all materials and information as required by the Contest website,
located at: (“Website”) and such submissions must be received no later than
April 19, 2018 at 11:59PM EST (“Deadline”)
3) ELIGIBILITY - ENTRANTS WHO ARE EXPO REGISTRANTS. Entrants must be registered attendees
of the ASCAP EXPO and must have written or co-written the Tracks or Songs submitted for consideration.
Entrants must not be party to any contract, including, but not limited to, a management, publishing or record
label agreement that would otherwise prohibit participation in this contest. Minors (18 and under) must have
the written approval of a parent or guardian.
4) SUBMISSION PROCESS. Entrants will submit two (2) tracks (“Initial Tracks”) to the Website and/or one
(1) link to a Song (“Initial Songs”).
Tracks: The Initial Tracks should be instrumental in nature or instrumentals with “chorus hooks.” The
maximum acceptable length of each Initial Track is two (2) minutes and each digital file used to submit the
Initial Tracks should be no more than ten (10) megabytes. Initial Tracks submitted must be written or cowritten
by Entrant. Initial Tracks must be submitted in Mp3 format. Entrants must include their name,
producer name (if applicable), email address, phone number and ASCAP EXPO registration number.
Songs: The Initial Song should be Hip Hop/Rap in nature. The Initial Song must be a link to a video of a live
performance by Entrant. Initial Song submitted must be written or co-written by Entrant. Entrants must include their
name, producer name (if applicable), email address, phone number and ASCAP EXPO registration number.
5) JUDGING PROCESS; DEADLINES. A panel of judges from Company will evaluate submissions and
select the Winners. Eight winners will be selected from the submissions made before Deadline.
6) ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS. Winners will be notified by ASCAP or Company, no later than April
23, 2018 and be notified via e-mail. The odds of winning will depend on the number of entries received and
opinions of the judges.
Track Winners: Track winners will perform his, her or their Tracks live at the Showcase, in front of judges,
at the EXPO. Each Track Winner will play no more than five (5) tracks from a CD and they are allowed a
maximum of one (1) minute each per track. Track Winners can insert hooks into said tracks, but there can be
absolutely no singing or rapping during the tracks. While the Track Winners are playing their Tracks, the
judges will score them on a scale of 1-10, based on the following categories: originality, marketability,
quality, usage of elements and overall potential. Following each performance by the Track Winners, the
judges will provide verbal feedback and constructive criticism. After all of the Track Winners have
performed, the judges will determine one (1), final, grand-prize winner (“Grand Prize Winner”). The Grand
Prize Winner will receive a prize package including a lifetime subscription to Please
note that Track Winners are not obligated to perform their Initial Tracks at the Showcase.
Song Winners: Song Winners will perform his, her or their Song live at the Showcase. Each Song Winner
will play no more than one (1) Song and can rap over a Track of their own selection. Song Winners will not be
judged and there is no winner. Please note that Song Winners are not obligated to perform their Initial Song at
the Showcase.
8) PRIVACY AND RELEASES. Entrants agree to accept these rules and the decisions of the judges, both
during the Contest and Showcase, as final. In particular, by submitting a song, Entrants agree: (a) that if
selected as Winners, their names, photos and/or likenesses, statements, and submitted Tracks or Songs, may
be publicized in or broadcast or transmitted over any medium in association with the Contest and the ASCAP
EXPO by ASCAP or Company, for reporting and promotional purposes, and, (b) that they release ASCAP,
Company and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, promotional agents and contest judges from any and all
liability, claims, or actions in connection with Entrants participation in the contest or with the receipt,
ownership, or use of any prize, or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize or
promotion related activity. No substitution of prizes is offered; no transfer of prizes to a third party is
permitted; and prizes may not be redeemed for cash value. Winners may be asked to sign an Affidavit of
Eligibility (“Affidavit”), certifying their authorship of the Initial Tracks or the Initial Song and Tracks or
Songs, right/title and interest in and to the Tracks or Initial Song and Tracks or Song,. If a Winner is unable to
perform at the Showcase, an alternate Winner(s) may be selected. The Affidavit is subject to verification by
ASCAP and Company. Any false information will result in automatic disqualification and forfeiture of prize,
if applicable. Recipients of the prize are solely responsible for any federal, state, and local taxes, if any,
associated with the prize awarded.
9) NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Purchases of products or services from ASCAP or Company, other than
registration as an attendee, are not required and will not increase Entrants chances of winning.
